Consumer group won’t oppose electric rate discounts for Panasonic

A proposal discounting electric rates for Panasonic - one of the biggest development projects in state history - is nearing approval at the Kansas Corporation Commission.

The KCC staff and the Citizens Utility Ratepayer Board have joined with Evergy and Panasonic in asking the KCC to approve an agreement providing the electric vehicle battery manufacturer with electric rates less expensive than what’s typically available.

However, Evergy has dropped its request for permission to potentially recover the cost of discounted electric rates for Panasonic . . .
