Marla Luckert is stepping down as chief justice of the Kansas Supreme Court about two months after she revealed that she suffered a stroke.

Luckert, just the second woman to serve as chief justice of the court, said she will remain as a justice on the Supreme Court until she retires, likely later in January or February.

She plans to finish ongoing work and will not take on new cases before she retires.
