Leading lawmakers on Wednesday agreed to hire a lawyer to file a friend-of-the-court brief on the side of the attorney general, who is in a legal battle with the governor over who has authority to bring a lawsuit on behalf of the state.
The Legislative Coordinating Council voted to authorize the hiring of an attorney in the case, which Gov. Laura Kelly filed against Attorney General Kris Kobach last week. There was no dollar amount set, and it's not known who the Legislature . . .
