Corrections secretary pauses move to new community corrections funding formula

The Kansas corrections secretary said Monday that he's pausing the start of a new funding formula for community corrections after running into opposition from parts of the state that would lose money for overseeing people on probation.

Jeff Zmuda had proposed a new way to allocate about $30 million across the state's judicial districts in an attempt to move away from a formula criticized for a lack of transparency as well as disparities in how the money was distributed.

Zmuda appeared before the House government oversight committee to explain his proposed formula for funding community corrections, a state . . .
