Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab wants to beef up protection for election workers, who have been under duress in recent years nationally because of unsubstantiated charges of election fraud.
Schwab revealed the proposal Tuesday when he laid out his agenda for the upcoming legislative session, during which he also plans to seek regulatory authority over ballot drop boxes.
Schwab said in broad terms that he wants to increase election worker safety by making it a crime to threaten or interfere with election workers performing official duties.
