Republican congressional hopeful Amanda Adkins led all GOP candidates in fundraising for the first quarter as she seeks the party’s nomination in the 3rd Congressional District.

Adkins, former chair of the Kansas Republican Party, reported raising $230,315 compared to $164,186 for Sara Hart Weir, who loaned her campaign $90,000 during the quarter.

Former Roeland Park Mayor Adrienne Vallejo Foster raised $71,946 in the first quarter. Former Burns & McDonnell executive Mike Beehler, a late entrant into the congressional race, raised $8,425.

Meanwhile, Democratic incumbent Sharice Davids continues to roll up money, amassing $541,393 during the quarter. The congresswoman’s campaign fund totals nearly $1.9 million.

Adkins’ fundraising was an improvement from the $208,716 she raised in the last quarter of 2019 and but down from the $296,477 she raised in the third quarter of last year.

Weir, meanwhile, improved from the $97,600 she raised in the fourth quarter of last year but was down from her $260,480 haul from the third quarter.

However, Weir loaned her campaign $90,000 in the first quarter, bringing the total amount of loans to her congressional campaign to $135,000.

Foster’s fundraising numbers were down from the $101,808 she raised in the fourth quarter last year.

Adkins is heading into the heart of the primary season with the most money on hand of any Republican candidate.

She reported having $489,544 on hand as of March 31. Weir had $404,123, while Foster reported having just $32,198 in her campaign fund. Beehler had $4,104.
