Republican state Rep. Clarke Sanders of Salina on Wednesday withdrew from the general election for House District 69 for health reasons.
Sanders, 71, will continue to represent his district until his term expires in January. He's just opting not to seek re-election this year.
"My health has taken an unexpected critical turn and I need to focus on healing and recuperating," Sanders said in a letter to the secretary of state obtained under the state's open records law.
