Democratic gubernatorial candidate Cindy Holscher on Friday called allegations that she threatened to blackmail Gov. Laura Kelly "absolutely ridiculous" and a "sleazy" last-ditch effort by the "establishment" to rescue their candidate, state Sen. Ethan Corson.
Holscher, a state senator from Overland Park, was asked directly during a debate broadcast statewide on the Nexstar Media Group to answer the charges levied by the governor's chief of staff, Will Lawrence.
The Kansas City Star reported on Thursday that Lawrence said the governor made her divorce public last year because she thought she was being blackmailed by Holscher.
