The Kansas Legislature late Thursday night approved a bill giving Attorney General Kris Kobach oversight of class-action lawsuits brought by local governments.
The House voted 79-40 on a bill similar to one that former Attorney General Derek Schmidt backed in 2020 that would have limited local governments from bringing lawsuits based on contingency-fee arrangements. The bill passed 23-17 in the Senate . . .
