Anheuser-Busch is leading an effort in Kansas to cut alcohol taxes by two-thirds for beer brewed and packaged in America.

A representative of the St. Louis-based brewer urged lawmakers Monday to pass legislation that would reduce the state's excise tax on beer made in America to 6 cents a gallon from 18 cents.

The tax for beer imported to the United States would remain at 18 cents a gallon.

It was not known how much that would cost the state's coffers.
