AAA Kansas is renewing efforts to get the Legislature to adopt measures to improve traffic safety by limiting drivers using cellphones in school zones and areas where road construction is underway.
AAA has tried unsuccessfully to pass a similar measure before but ran into trouble because it was attached to a broader proposal that would have banned anyone under 18 years old from using handheld cellphones while driving.
The bill has now been revised so it only bans handheld cellphones for drivers in school zones when reduced speed limits are . . .
