Key lawmakers are sounding a cautionary theme about state government spending as they prepare to take up new tax cuts in the upcoming legislative session.
A special joint committee now building a budget for the Legislature to consider voted to eliminate hundreds of millions of dollars in agency requests for budget enhancements and supplemental spending as well as new requests for employees and their related salaries.
The committee approved the motion by House Speaker Dan Hawkins after it was briefed on a state budget
