Public school advocates turned out in force to oppose a Republican state lawmaker's proposal to add more days and hours to the school year.
Republican state Rep. Bill Rhiley of Wellington proposed adding more than 400 hours to the school year by increasing the number of school days to 195, eight-hour days or 156, 10-hour days.
